The Amon Carter Museum of American art approached Bluecadet with the goal of redesigning their website and online collection explorer.

Approach

The Amon Carter Museum of American Art, in Fort Worth, Texas needed a robust collection explorer that allowed the general public to explore and engage with the artworks, while also functioning as a tool for researchers and museum employees.

The collection explorer

We built a collection explorer which features a clean, navigable, interface that is inviting for the casual visitor, but includes a robust, intuitive taxonomy, filtering, and flexible narrative system that allows curators to find works and organize the collection easily

Key features included: Robust filtering system, object detail pages, artist pages, collection "themes" groupings.

Collection Architecture

One of the main challenges we had to address was how to organize the collection in a way that allows curators to develop narratives about the pieces, while also providing a structure that fosters clear navigation and exploration.

We ultimately landed on a system that is split into three distinct branches: All works, Themes, and Artists
